Translational Gerontology Branch

Rafael de Cabo, Ph.D., Chief

The Translational Gerontology Branch encompasses research from drug discovery to clinical and longitudinal studies, from in vitro models to research on a variety of model organisms, rodents and non-human primates. This branch is investigating and developing methods and interventions to support healthy aging and to prevent or delay the onset of functional decline and age-related diseases, our goals are focused on the translation of the discoveries made in the human longitudinal and clinical, model organisms to the basic biology and vice versa. Investigators in TGB are also developing strategies to unveil the underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms responsible for the functional decline that occurs with age aiming to develop and test interventions that delay aging processes.
