Plurigon Image

Plurigon is a Java program developed by Hongyu Chen, Bronwen Martin, and Stuart Maudsley at the National Institute of Aging, National Institutes of Health. Plurigon is a data visualization and classification tool for the integration of high-dimensionality visualization algorithms with a user-friendly, interactive graphical interface. Plurigon processes a series of floating-point numbers into a deformable 3D object with a visible topography using spiral spacing, convex hulls, and laplacian smoothing of polygonal meshes. Plurigon contains an easy-to-use keyboard layout for axial drawing, zooming, rotating, importing, and exporting. Plurigon also now has two different types of anaglyph 3D viewing capacities. Plurigon application Zip files are available for versions operating on Windows-PC, Mac OSX, Linux. In addition we have included Pluriprocessor as an .exe file. Pluriprocessor is a lightweight tool designed to derive Plurigon .txt files from Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets.


1. Download the specific Zip folder required by clicking the appropriate download links.
2. Unzip the directory.
3. Open the directory.
4. Double-click "Plurigon" to start the program.

Installation is not required for Pluriprocessor.
1. Download the executable by clicking the appropriate link.
2. Double click omniprocessor.exe

This software is available for download and is contained in a Winzip file along with the NIH Software Transfer Agreement and a PDF formatted copy of the journal article.

Plurigon Usage

Plurigon Keys:

  • o - open file (files must be in “.txt” format, one number per line)
  • s - save image (saves as a TIFF file)
  • arrow keys - rotation
  • +- keys - zoom
  • i - information (center of mass, average distance to core, surface area)
  • x - axes on/off
  • c - center of mass vector on/off
  • 3 - toggle 3d mode (red/cyan, green/magenta, off)
